This was a day of exploring the mountains around Yatsushiro, cut short by a flat tire.

Heather Meadows > We traveled again into the mountains, this time to get a nice view of Yatsushiro and to discuss environmental issues. Todd dispelled the myth that Japan is totally clean everywhere by pointing out the garbage all over the place at this rest area. He also discussed the "noise pollution" caused by the city, creating background noise that became obvious when you moved just a litle behind the mountain and away from the city.
